Model of Sea of Galilee Boat
In 1986 an ancient boat was found sunken in the northwest side of the Sea of Galilee (also referred to as Lake of Gennesaret, Lake Kinneret and/or Sea of Tiberias). Investigation showed the boat to have been built between 100 BC and 70 AD.
It would have been typical of the hundreds of fishing boats in use during this time. Some have referred to this as the 'Jesus Boat,' although there is nothing to link this particular boat to Jesus.
There are more than 50 references to events and stories about the Sea of Galilee in the New Testament. This model gives a vision of how these fishing boats looked.
For those interested in building their own model, following is a description of how to build one.
